Locked in the Library

Hi everyone! Today's post is just a fun little story that I whipped up. Hope you enjoy it!

It was Thursday, July 18. The year was 1989.
It was a hot summer day. The wind was blowing across a field of green grass and flowers. 14 year-old Ally McDawn's house was just opposite that field. School had ended a month back and since then, everyday, Ally would stare out the window or frolic in the field. She loved watching the flowers dance in the wind. Ally's house was just 10 minutes away from school and 5 minutes away from the library. Ally loved to read, almost as much as she loved to play in the field. Every week, She'd go to the library and check out enough books to last her the entire month, but she'd finish reading them all in a day or two. The librarian, Mrs. Cork, enjoyed having Ally take home so many books because this assured her that not all teenagers were controlled by electronic devices. Whenever Ally would come back with a great stack of books Mrs. Cork would ask her, "Finished already?" and she'd reply "Not enough books." Mrs. Cork would then smile at Ally and she'd smile right back. Often, Ally would sit down at the library until closing hours and lose herself in the wonderful secrets hidden in the books. One day when Ally was on her way to the library, as usual, she noticed that the sky had an eerie look to it. 'Probably a big cloud' she thought. While she continued her way, the "cloud" became larger. Ally finally reached the library and headed in. When she went in with her huge stack of books, she didn't hear Mrs. Cork's usual greeting. She didn't see any other children in the library either. 'Am I too early?' she thought, 'Might as well wait for Mrs. Cork.' Ally waited and waited for Mrs. Cork, but she didn't show. Finally Ally turned to go home, and as she stepped toward the door, it slammed shut. She jumped back, startled and frightened, and tried to pry the doors open with her hands. They wouldn't budge. She turned to face the library, which suddenly seemed bigger than usual. She ran through the aisles of books in hopes of finding an emergency exit. As Ally stepped through the aisle, books from the shelves started to fall. It was as if the books were trying to fall on her. Suddenly, Ally heard a loud and booming voice that said, " Ally, Ally likes to read. But in the library she is trapped indeed." The room started to spin and she felt as if cameras were flashing. The room spun faster and faster, and then she woke up. Ally's eyes opened and she sprang up, only to find that she was safely in her bedroom. "Phew, thank GOODNESS it was just a dream." She looked around the room and noticed a scrap paper on her table that said, "Ally, Ally likes to read. But in the library she is trapped indeed." Ally's heart started racing and she thought, "Maybe, just maybe it wasn't a dream..."

I hope you enjoyed my story and if you did, comment below. Thanks!
